Salix caprea ‘Pendula’ deciduous tree numerous sizes available S. caprea ‘Kilmarnock’ – S. caprea ‘Pendula’ – Kilmarnock Willow – This weeping deciduous tree or shrub is almost grown as a grafted standard, and is usually seen 5-6′ feet tall depending on grafting height and grows 6′ feet wide. Yellow-brown shoots form a dense head, and carry broadly elliptic, toothed leaves, to 4″ long, dark green above, gray green beneath. Gray male catkins, 1 1/4″ long, studded with yellow anthers, are borne on bare shoots in mid and late spring. Grow in areas with clearly defined seasons in any deep, moist but well drained soil in full sun or part shade, willows dislike shallow alkaline soil. The dwarf and alpine species need gritty, sharply drained soil. Zones 6-8
