Description

V. x carlcephalum – Fragrant Snowball Viburnum – Fragrant Viburnum – This rounded, bushy deciduous shrub is a cross between V. carlesii and V. macrocephalum f. keteleeri, grows 8-10’ feet tall and wide. It produces broadly heart shaped, irregularly toothed, lustrous dark green leaves 3-5” long, turning red in autumn. Tubular shaped, mildly fragrant, creamy white flowers, ½” across, in domed, terminal corymbs, 6” across, open from pink buds in late spring.

Grow in any moderately fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun or partial shade, most are drought tender. Where not hardy, shelter from cold drying winds. Most deciduous Viburnums tolerate hard pruning.
