V. trilobum – V. americanum – V. opulus var. americaqnum – American Highbush Cranberry – Cranberry-bush – High Bush-cranberry – This dense, rounded, deciduous shrub from North America grows 8-15’ feet tall and 8-12’ feet wide. It produces maple like, 3 lobed, dark green leaves, to 5” long, which emerge in spring with a bronze tint, and turn yellow to red in autumn. In late spring, bears flattened, lacecap like, terminal cymes to 4” across, made up of ¾” white flowers. Edible, spherical red fruit follows the flowers, 3/8” across. Useful as a hedge or screening plant.

Grow in any moderately fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun or partial shade, most are drought tender. Where not hardy, shelter from cold drying winds. Most deciduous Viburnums tolerate hard pruning.
