Viburnum ‘Cayuga’

Description

V. ‘Cayuga’ – This compact, spreading, upright, deciduous shrub is cross between V. carlesii and V. x carlcephalum, grows 5’ feet tall and almost as wide. It produces broadly egg shape to elliptic shaped, scalloped, dark green leaves, 1-5” long. Leaves develop soft orange tone in autumn. In early spring, pink buds open to salverform, waxy, pleasantly scented white flowers, ½” across, starting from one side of each hemispherical cyme, 2-3” across. The fruit is a deep purple-red to black.

Grow in any moderately fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun or partial shade, most are drought tender. Where not hardy, shelter from cold drying winds. Most deciduous Viburnums tolerate hard pruning.
