T. polytrichus – T. ‘Porlock’- T. praecox- Creeping Thyme- Wild Thyme – This dense evergreen, creeping perennial from South Europe grows ½”-2″ tall and can spread to more than 24″ wide. From woody, prostrate, branching stems it produces narrowly oval to oblong, aromatic, dark green leaves, 3/8″ long, fringed with minute hairs. In summer it bears mauve, purple , occasionally off white flowers in clusters.

Grow in well drained neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. For thick, dense plants, the flowers should be removed after flowering. Divide in spring.
