Tellima – Fringe Cups There is a sole species in this genus, it is a rosette forming, hairy, evergreen herbaceous perennial in the Saxifragaceae family. Found naturally occurring in cool moist forest in Western North America. They have mainly basal leaves are heart shaped or triangular to kidney shaped, scalloped or toothed, and 5 to 7 lobed. Small, bell shaped flowers , with 5 tiny petals, fringe into linear segments, relatively large calyces, and 10 stamen,, are borne in terminal racemes in late spring and mid summer.. Fringe cups are drought tolerant and suitable as a groundcover in a shrub border or woodland garden. Grow in moist, humus rich soil in partial shade, will tolerate dry soil and full sun. Self seeds free. Divide in spring. T. grandiflora – This rosette forming perennial is found naturally occurring from Alaska to California and grows 24-32″ tall and 12″ wide. It produces hairy, heart shaped or triangular to kidney shaped, 5 to 7 lobed, scalloped leaves, up to 4″ long.. From late spring to mid summer, erect, hairy stems bear terminal racemes, to 12″ long, of 15-30 bell shaped white to greenish white flowers, to 3/8″ long, with greenish white calyces. Zones 4-8
