Description

S. meyeri – Dwarf Korean Lilac – Meyer Lilac – This compact round shrub from China grows 5-6′ feet tall and 4-6′ feet wide.It produces oval leaves up to 1 1/4″ long.In late spring and early summer it bears fragrant purplish mauve flower in small panicles, up to 3″ long.

‘Palibin’ – S. palibiniana of gardens – S. patula of gardens – S. velutina of gardens – is slower growing to 4′ feet tall and 5′ feet wide with violet to rose pink flowers in dense panicles to 4″ long

Grow in a shrub border or as specimens in fertile, humus rich, well drained, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun or light shade.They will tolerate sandy gravelly soil that is slightly alkaline.Resents heavy clay or deep shade.Mulch regularly.Dead head newly planted lilacs before fruit form.
