Syneilesis – There are about 3 perennial that make up this genus. They are found naturally occurring from open, sunny areas of coll temperate regions in China, Korea, and Japan. They are grown for their clustered, palmate, deeply incised, hairy to hairless, light green, gray-green, to dark green leaves, covered with a cobweb like substance when young. Inconspicuous, white to greenish white flowers are borne in corymbs or panicles, and are papery textured when mature. Grow S. palmata as a specimen or massed in a border. Grow in fertile, well drained, slightly acidic soil in partial shade to full sun. Divide in early spring or early autumn. S. palmata – This stout perennial from Korea grows 24-48″ tall and 12-24″ wide. It produces 7 to 9 palmate, rounded, white hairy leaves, 14-20″ across, each borne in a closed umbrella-like shape when young, unfurling as a broad, open-umbrella-like leaf, fading to gray-green. Inconspicuous white flowers, to 1/4′ across, are borne in spike like panicles, 12-24″ long, from mid summer to autumn. Zones 4-8
