Sedum ‘Purple Emperor’ perennial comes in 1 or 2 gallon pots S. ‘Herbstfreude’ – S. Autumn Joy’ – Hylotelephium ‘ Autumn Joy’ – This clump forming, bushy, deciduous perennial grows 2′ feet tall and wide. From glaucous mid green stems it carries alternate, egg to oblong shaped, toothed, glaucous, dark green leaves, to 5″ long. In early autumn, produces flat corymbs, to 8″ across, of star shaped flowers, 1/4″ across, deep pink at first, then turning pinkish bronze to eventually copper-red. Grow in moderately fertile, well drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil in full sun. Vigorous species tolerate light shade. Cut back spreading species after flowering to maintain shaped. Divide larger, herbaceous species every 3 or 4 years to improve flowering in spring. Zones 3-8
