C. vulgaris – Erica vulgaris – Ling – Scotch Heather – This variable, prostrate to erect shrub found from acidic heathland in Northern and Western Europe to Siberia, Turkey, Morocco, and the Azores grows 4-24″ tall and 12-36″ wide. It produces the palest yellow to green to gray, hairless or hairy leaves, to 1/8″ long. From mid summer to late autumn it bears bell shaped or tubular flowers, to 1/8″ long, are carried in short to long racemes, ranging from single to double and color range from

‘Tib’ – grows 15″ wide and is fairly open in habit, producing long racemes of pink, double flower in mid summer white to pink to purple.

Grow in well drained, neutral to acidic soil in an open site in full sun. Prune after flowering. Container grown plants need feeding once a month during the growing season. They dislike lime and manure.
