Description

Abeliophyllum – Pink forsythia This genus of one species, name derives from Abelia, which it is said to resemble. It’s a deciduous shrub native to the hillsides of Korea where its becoming scare. Its closely related to forsythia and the flower resembles that of forsythia. The flower is borne in late winter or early spring on the previous years growth. This shrub is well suited to a wide range of soils. In cooler areas should be given a warm site. Less vigorous old canes should be trimmed every 2 to 3 years. A. disttichum ‘Roseum’– Korean abelialef – White Forysthia – This shrub can grow 3 feet or 6 feet tall if trained. Has an open habit with opposite oval matte dark green leaves 3 inches long turning purple in autumn. In late winter or early spring bears fragrant forsythia like pink flowers that burst from pink tinged buds. Zones 5-9
