Description
P. tricuspidata – Boston Ivy – Japanese Ivy – This vigorous, deciduous woody climber from China, Korea, and Japan grows to height of 70′ feet high. It produces variable, broadly ovate, deeply toothed, bright green leaves, to 8″ across, either 3 lobed or with 3 ovate leaflets, turning brilliant red to purple in autumn. The leaf blades often drop off before the leaf stalks, creating a curious effect. It bears greenish yellow flowers followed by small, dark blue grape.
‘Veitchii’ – ‘Aaampelopsis veitchii’ – has dark red-purple autumn foliage.
Grow in any fertile, humus rich, well drained soil in shade or sun. Young plants may need support initially. Protect from hot winds
