Hamamelis vernalis deciduous shrub grow in full sun to partial shade comes 3-4′, 4-5′ feet tall and larger H. vernalis – Ozark Witch Hazel – Vernal Witch Hazel – This erect shrub from central USA grows 6-15′ feet tall and wide. It produces obovate, mid green leaves, to 5″ long, turning yellow in autumn. In late winter and early spring it bears small, yellow to orange, sometimes red-tinged flowers on bare shoots. Grow in moderately fertile, moist but well drained, acidic to neutral soil in full sun or partial shade, in an open but not exposed site. Also grow in deep, humus rich, alkaline soils. zone 4-8
