N. nipponicum – This sub shrubby perennial from Japan grows 24″ tall and wide. From erect or spreading sparsely branches stems it carries stalkless, narrowly spoon shaped, irregularly toothed, aromatic, mid to dark green leaves, to 3 ½” long. In autumn it bears daisy like white flower heads, to 2 ½” across with green center that mature to yellow.
Grow in very well drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun. It preforms best when cut back almost to the ground in spring, unpruned plants quickly become leggy and unattractively open centered. Divide in spring.
