Description
Hamamelis virginiana – Virginia Witch Hazel – Common Witch Hazel – This erect shrub from Eastern North America grows 12-20′ feet tall and wide.It produces broadly oval, or nearly rounded dark green leaves with paler undersides, to 6″ long, which turn bright yellow in autumn.In autumn before the leaves fall it bears small yellow flowers.
Grow in moderately fertile, moist but well drained, acidic to neutral soil in full sun or partial shade, in an open but not exposed site.Also grow in deep, humus rich, alkaline soils.
