Anethum graveolens – Peucedanum graveolens – This aromatic annual from India and Southwestern Asia grows 36” tall and 18” wide. The blue-green leaves are divided into thread like fragile segments. In summer it bears scented tiny yellow flowers to form a flatten umbel 3 ½” across followed by pungent dill seeds.

There are 2 species of moderately frost hardy, aromatic annuals or biennials from Southwestern Asia, India, and Europe, in this genus. They produce smooth branching stems and feathery blue-green foliage. In summer it bears umbels of tiny yellow flowers develop at stem tip followed by pungent seed. Both foliage and seeds have many culinary uses (pickling and in fish dishes). The scent attracts beneficial insects like wasps and other predators. They also have medicinal uses most notably as an indigestion remedy. Grow in a herb or vegetable garden.
Grow in fertile, humus rich, well-drained soil in full sun with shelter from strong winds. Water freely during the season. After flowers are spent cut down and flowers may resprouts.
Prone Cercosporidum leaf spot, and other fungal leaf and root diseases occur.
