Cuphea

Description

From woodland clearings and pastures in Southeastern USA, Mexico, subtropical Central and South America. Many have sticky, glandular hairs. Most produce opposite, ovate to lance shaped, entire lobed or lightly toothed leaves that are mid green to dark green. Irregularly shaped, tubular flowers are held singly or in often leafy racemes or panicles. Usually grown as an annual.

Grow in moderately fertile, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
