C. sativum – this aromatic annual from Eastern Mediterranean grows 20″ inches tall and 8″ inches wide. It produces long stalked, glossy bright green leaves, 1/2″ inches long. From mid summer to autumn it bears 5 petaled, white or pale purple flowers in umbels to 1/2″ inch across, followed by pale golden brown fruit.

Grow in light, fertile well drained soil in full sun for good seed production, or in partial shade for best leaf growth. Pick leaves throughout the growing season. Harvest seed when the fruits begin to change color and become pleasantly aromatic. Pick leaves in early spring, never harvesting more 1/3 of the plant.

Prone to fungal wilt and whiteflies.
