S. romanzoffiana – Arecastrum romanzaffianum – Queen Palm – a large palm, growing to 70′ feet tall and 20-30′ feet wide, rarely that in cultivation. On a sturdy trunck, it carries pinnate leaves that may be 10-15′ feet long, with mid green, linear segments as long as 40″ inches long atop of well branched with long smooth trunk. Usually in summer, it bears organe-glanded green flowers in panicles to 3′ feet long.
indoors – grow in soil based potting mix in bright filtered light. During the growing season, water freely, apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly. Pot on/top dress in spring.
