Description

Buphthalmum – There are 2 species of perennials, in this genus. They occur on rocky slopes, open woodland, and meadows in Europe and Western Asia. They have alternate, lance shaped to obovate, smooth or toothed edged leaves, and bear daisy like, yellow flowers, from early summer to early autumn. Suitable for a border, wild garden, or cutting garden. Grow in moist, well drained soil in full sun. Divide in early spring. B. salicifolium – This clump forming perennial from Central Europe grows 24″ tall and 18″ wide. It produces narrowly obovate to lance shaped, willow like, dark green leaves, to 4″ long. From mid summer to early autumn it bears erect, slender stems that carry deep yellow flowers, 2-3″ across that last well when cut. Zones 5-8
