Aerides Orchid

Description

Aerides – Theirs about 40 species of orchids in this genus of orchids. Found in India, Himalayas and South East Asia at low altitude in tropical forest. It bears strap shape linear, leathery leaves are borne alternately in 2 ranks. Bears dense arching racemes of fragrant flowers in spring and summer. Cool to intermediate growing orchids (see chart below). Grow in orchid potting mix or on slabs of bark in high humidity in filtered light. Water freely throughout the year sparingly in winter and use half strength fertilizer every third watering during spring and in summer. Prone to aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, and mealybugs.
