Description
Aerangis
A genus of about 50 species of mostly lowland forest and savanna or wood in tropical Asia and Madagascar and as far east as Sri Lanka orchids. It bears fleshy or leathery leaves are general egg shape or inversely lance shape occasionally narrow linear oblong leaves. The leaves arranged in 2 ranks. Racemes of white sometimes red or yellow tinted usually star shape flowers on long spurs borne various time of the year.
Intermediate to warm growing orchids (see chart below). Grow on Aerangis on orchid raft or on cork slab or on bark. Provide shade in summer and high humidity. Water freely throughout the summer and sparingly in winter. Use half strength fertilizer every third watering. Mist aerial roots once or twice a day in summer.
Prone to aphids, spider mites and mealy bugs.
