Aegopodium – Bishop’s Weed – Goutweed – There are about 5 species of perennials in this genus.  This native to Europe and Asia has rampant spreaders by underground roots and is next to impossible to eradicating.  The compound leaves have large toothed leaflets and bear rounded umbels of white flowers.  Used for a long time as an, herbal medicine, thought to be effective against gout. Easily grown in moist soil in partial shade. Prone to leaf blight may brown foliage off in summer. Aegopodium podagraria – Ground Elder – Has compound leaves and have large toothed leaflets.  Can spread indefinitely by underground roots and can reach 3 feet high with pure white umbels in summer. Zones 3-9
