Description
Acer Monspessulanum – Montpellier Maple – French Maple – Found in the stony hillsides of the Mediterranean can be a large shrub or small tree. Grows to 25’ tall and wide. The 3 rounded lobed, oval glossy dark green, thick leaves are 1 ¼-2” inches long. It has dark gray smooth bark. Bears abundant pendent clusters of yellow green flowers on a single or common branch followed by red winged fruit in mid summer. It’s tolerant to dry conditions and its small compact habit makes it suitable for street trees. Leaves turn reddish in autumn.
