Description

Abromeitiella lorentziana – From northwest Argentina this robust bromeliad is similar to Abromeitiella brevifolia but has more spines on the grayish green 1 ½-6” long leaves. In summer it bears long tubed yellow green tip flowers 1 ½” long. Zone 13-15 Abromeitiella This genus of two or three species named after a German botanist, J. Abromeit, are small ground dwelling plants from Bolivia and Argentina and are part of the bromeliad family. They form small cushion or dense mats of rosettes, mounding up to 30” tall, with triangular grayish green succulent leaves with short tips. The flowers appear in groups of 3 twisted greenish yellow or green on the inflorescences branches. Followed by dull grayish berries. They’re very sensitive to frost, plant in bromeliad potting mix, lime free, well-drained soil in full sun. Commonly used has a houseplants. Prone to mealybugs.
