Causal agent
Tomato greenback is a non-pathological disease caused by irregular growing conditions. This includes inadequate water, light, and nutrient supply, resulting in reduced yield and quality. It is more common in greenhouse crops.
Symptoms & Signs
Tomato greenback is identified through hard, green patches on ripened fruits due to high temperature, light, or inadequate nutrients. It is more prominent near the stalk, with uneven, green, and yellow patches on the outside and brownish discoloration on the inside. Cracks and uneven sunken areas on the bottom, known as bottom end rot, also appear due to a lack of potassium.
