Tipburn

Tipburn Common name Tipburn Causal agent Tipburn is seen chiefly in lettuce and occurs due to calcium deficiency, increased growth rate, and high humidity. When the plant is growing rapidly, the calcium requirement is not met, leading to tipburn. It may be due to inadequate calcium uptake due to large leaves or high moisture content in the soil that reduces the calcium uptake. Symptoms & Signs Brown to black necrotic spots appears at the outer leaves’ margins, which soon lead to brown veins near the lesions.
