It is caused by a nutritional deficiency of potassium, especially on sandy, chalky, or peaty soil with less amount of clay.
Symptoms & Signs
The distinguishing characteristic of potassium deficiency is a droopy appearance. Potassium-deficient plants show dry, wilted leaves with short internodes. It inhibits leaf growth or grows small leaves with short blades. The mature leaves also show chlorosis with purple spots on the underside. It makes the plant susceptible to many more diseases. The crop yield is diminished and the size of crops is also affected.
