Palm Frizzle Top
Palm frizzle top
Common name
Palm frizzle top
Causal agent
It is a non-pathological disorder caused by a nutritional deficiency of manganese. Extremely cold weather can inhibit manganese uptake by the roots causing a deficiency in plants.
Symptoms & Signs
Most common symptoms of palm frizzle top are dry, withered fronds. The leaves are weak and also exhibit yellow markings. The tips are the first to get affected; hence they fall off first. All new growth appears stubby since it does not grow terminal leaf tips. The leaves are also smaller than usual, giving the palm trees a stunted appearance.
