Mycoplasmas are gram-positive bacteria that affect various plant species. It causes several plant diseases, including corn stunt, periwinkle yellows, mottling, and dwarfing. They cannot survive outside the phloem cell wall.

Symptoms & Signs
Depending on the plant species, there can be several symptoms. This includes chlorosis of the leaves, mottling, and dwarfism. Other growth disorders such as witches broom, and polyphyly are also common. Since the phloem is affected, various growth and variegation disorders can take place.
Transmission
It is transmitted to other healthy plants through sap-sucking insects such as leafhoppers. Mycoplasmas cannot be spread through seeds or physical contact.
