It caused powdery mildew on several plant species, especially gooseberry. Scientific name Podosphaera mors-uvae Symptoms & Signs The disease initially starts with a powder-white appearance on young shoots and spreads to the leaves and mature shoots. It causes the shoots to die back, and the whole plant turns grayish-white. The fruits also turn mushy and brown, making them unappealing. However, the fungal growth on gooseberries can be easily rubbed off. Transmission It is transmitted to healthy plants through spores that travel by wind, water, or infected tools.
