Cucumber mosaic virus Common name Cucumber mosaic virus Causal agent It is caused by the cucumber mosaic virus and infects above 100 families of plants Symptoms & Signs Stunted growth of plants, along with leaf reduction, are early symptoms of this disease. The fruits also develop a rough surface along with blotches, giving them a mosaic-like appearance. Besides the mosaic mottling, the leaves also show rolling and necrosis, leading to plant death. The host plant may also show a shoestring effect causing the leaves to narrow. Transmission It spreads to other plants through sap, aphids, or seeds.
