Symptoms & Signs
Crucifer black rot is characterized by irregular, yellow spots on the leaves. Young seedlings are more prone to show symptoms. The spots expand into a V-shape with necrosis of tissue in the center. The necrotic tissue also has a yellow halo around its edges. Veins also turn brown or black, and the plant shows signs of wilting.
Transmission
The bacteria travel to other plants by means of wind, water, insects, infected tools, or contact. It then enters the plant through wounds or natural openings such as stomates. The bacteria thrive in warm, humid, and moist conditions, between a temperature of 79 F to 95 F.
