Chlorosis
Chlorosis
Common name
Chlorosis
Causal agent
It is mainly caused by a lack of chlorophyll due to drought, waterlogging, soil alkalinity, or nutrient deficiency.
Symptoms & Signs
Chlorosis starts as the paling of the foliage, especially the tissues between the veins. As the leaves turn yellow, the chlorosis also exacerbates. Since there is not enough chlorophyll, photosynthesis is impaired, and the plant weakens. This results in stunted growth and gradual death of leaves and the plant. Chlorotic leaves also have a higher risk of developing diseases and burning.
