It is a viral disease caused by the camellia yellow mottle virus and only affects the camellia species.
Symptoms & Signs
Camellia yellow mottle disease is distinguished based on irregular yellow discoloration of the foliage and white spots on the flowers. Besides the chlorotic spots, the deformed leaves also show necrotic spots. The symptoms do not appear on the whole plant but on a few branches.
Transmission
The virus is transmitted to healthy plants by means of insects, vectors, tools, or human contact. Propagation can also transfer the virus to the next generation.
