Iris scorch Common name Iris scorch Causal agent Iris scorch may be caused by a bacteria from the genus Pseudomonas, or it may occur as a result of the early growth of plants during the winter. This puts stress on the plant leading to dieback and scorched leaves. Scientific name Pseudomonas Symptoms & Signs The center leaf turns brownish-yellow, and the scorch spreads to other leaves of the plant as well. Roots also show signs of rot and soon disintegrate. The soft, flaccid roots along with leaves die back are among the first symptoms of iris scorch. Transmission The bacteria are carried in the roots and rhizomes of the infected plants and spread to other plants by infected soil, water, or tools.
