It mainly affects kangaroo paw species resulting in black spots on leaves and stems. Scientific name Alternaria alternata Symptoms & Signs The disease starts off as black spots on leaves and stems, especially near the tips. As the disease progresses, the black spots start showing on the rhizomes. It weakens the plant severely and may cause its death. Transmission The fungal spores may transfer from the infected plant to other healthy plants by means of wind, water, and contact.
