Symptoms & Signs Curly top causes the plant to shrivel and reduce in size with malformed petals and leaves. The petioles and leaves also show discoloring, and fruits do not form. In some plants, the leaves also thicken and curl, giving them a distinct appearance. It causes phloem necrosis which can be seen in the cross-section of the taproots.
