Symptoms & Signs
White and purplish-black fungal growth first covers the flowers and then moves to the fruits. The blossom end of the fruit is also soft and rotted. The fungal growth is also fuzzy with whitish-gray strands and black spots that resemble a pincushion.
Transmission
The fungus produces spores that travel to healthy plants by means of wind, water, insects, and bees. Warm, wet weather conditions highly favor it.
