Cactus Corky Scab
Cactus corky scab
Common name
Cactus corky scab
Causal agent
Cactus corky scab is not a physiological disease; thus, it does not do any damage to the plant. It can be caused by overwatering, temperature fluctuations, or poor ventilation. Cool temperatures with high humidity and soggy soil are a few contributing factors for cactus corky scabs.
Symptoms & Signs
Initially, the plant shows yellow spots on its surface. These spots may transform into irregular, dry, scabby lesions, hence the name. Since the epidermis is breaking, the plant looks wounded and covered with scabs. The disease first attacks the oldest part of the plants; hence, the base of the plant is the first to get affected.
