Alfalfa Mosaic Virus Common name Alfalfa Mosaic Virus Lucerne Mosaic Virus Potato calico Causal Agent It is caused by some members of the genus Alfamovirus Symptoms & Signs Yellow mosaic or calcio type pattern appears on the leaves. Leaves affected with AMV develop yellow blotches in between green color called “mottling.” Sometimes leaves may curl and develop bronze discoloration. Internally, it causes the death of the phloem tissues in roots. Fruits develop surface necrotic rings and blotches. Transmission Alfalfa mosaic virus is spread by aphids.
