Tetraneuris acaulis – Hymenoxys acaulis

Description

Tetraneuris – There are about 35 aromatic annuals and short lived herbaceous perennial in this genus. They are found naturally occurring in plains, prairies, and mountain screes in Western and Central USA. They are grown for their aromatic foliage and flowers. They produce alternate, narrowly linear to lance shaped or inversely lance shaped, occasionally lobed, very hairy leaves are usually arranged in basal rosettes. The mostly solitary, daisy like yellow flowers are produced in early summer. Grow in well drained, gritty soil in full sun, protect from excessive winter moisture. T. acaulis – Hymenoxys acaulis – This tap rooted perennial found in Idaho to North Dakota, Texas and New Mexico grows 6″ tall and wide. It produces basal rosettes of narrowly lance shaped, very hairy, gray green leaves, up to 3″ long. Usually solitary   yellow flowers, to 2″ across, are born on upright, hairy stems in early summer.
