Description

P. x hispanica – P. x acerifolia – P. x hybrida – London Plane – This vigorous, broadly columnar, deciduous tree is a cross between P. occidentalis and P. orientalis and grows 100-120′ feet tall and 70′ feet wide. It has flaking brown, gray, and cream bark and very variable but usually sharply 3 to 5 lobed, bright green leaves, to 14″ long. It bears green, later brown fruit clusters, 1″ across, are held in groups of up to 4, and persist during autumn and winter. Resist Leaf blights.

Bloodgood’ – is fast growing, drought tolerant, and is relatively resistant to anthracnose

Suttneri’ – grows 70′ feet tall and 50′ feet wide and has leaves marked creamy white.

Grow in fertile, well drained, soil in full sun but best in alluvial soils with a consistent water source.
